From Sewage, Added Water for Drinking

Filed under: AndhraPradesh, drinking water, hyderabad, india, sludge gas — gaali @ 3:24 pm

Take a look at this article where it describes how Orange county, CA treats sewage water and will be using it indirectly to replenish its drinking water supplies. This looks like a very promising technology which can be used everywhere. Yeah it might not be cost-efficient yet but just the thought of dumping fully-treated sewage (technically drinkable water) sounds so good rather than dumping the raw, semi-treated sewage into water bodies. When I was doing my civil engineering we wrote a paper ( in 1996) on how efficient it is to use treated Sludge gas from sewage treatment plant for various purposes. Don’t know how efficient is it now to use sludge gas as a bio-fuel?. I heard from a California professor who worked as a consultant for Hyderabad sewage board that he was involved in developing a treatment process so that Hyderabad sewage water could be transformed to potable water which can be used for firing up industrial strength boilers. If any of you know more information about this please let me know. Check out the below links too.
